It’s a toss-up

My latest two favorite photos. You must click this one and look at my baby's big blue eyes.
"you"
That what's she saying here, hence the mouth shape. She's leaning on my knee. "Why are YOU taking another picture mommy?"
Mirror, Mirror.

So, I was talking to Keely about her upcoming birthday in a few weeks. She now thinks everyday it's going to be her birthday. Each night after dinner she says, "Now I can have some birthday (cake)."

I asked her what colors she wanted her birthday party to be. She said, "Brown."

ummmm. k.

"What kind of cake would you like?"  "Green and brown." k.

"What would you like to get for your birthday?" "Ummmmm… a buddha and some soft scissors."

What are soft scissors you ask? Well, I assume it's her answer to not being able to use mommy's dangerous scissors. I guess she thinks if we had some soft ones they wouldn't be dangerous.  cute.

The dining room

I almost forgot about the dining room flash. Sheesh. So here it is. The table is ancient (note the warbly boards) & very few of its parts line up exactly. It is one of my favorite pieces. Someday it will get refinished. The chairs are NOT my favorite. They are hand-me-downs and I have been looking for 4 old matching chairs that I like for 3 years!

The IKEA shelves started out very tidy and showplace like. That didn't last long. Once I started sewing, I moved my basic supplies in there, the sewing machine is on the table. I didn't move it for the picture because that is where I sew and that is where the machine goes. Keely has the bottom row of the shelves filled with her toys and puzzles. There was a large picture window where the french doors are now when we moved in. Last summer we had the doors put in. This week the husband has decided that he is going ahead and adding a bigger deck outside of them. New readers might not know this, but our home used to be my grandparent's. The current dining room used to have a wall in the middle of it, it divided the then tiny kitchen and the tiny dining room. What now is the kitchen (to the left) used to be a garage. In 1962, my grandfather renovated the space. He also added on the master bedroom and bath then. Neat stuff.  Anyone else flashing their dining rooms this week?
