Rag curtain
Everytime I wear something with a drawstring or ribbon on it, Keely plays with it while she sits/lays on me. So, I thought I'd get a dowel and tie a bunch of different colored/textured ribbons on it to let her fiddle with. I didn't have an easy way to hang it up somewhere without hardware though. So, today we made this.
I used one of those cafe/tension rods and tied a bunch of strips of fabric and satin ribbons from it. It fits in a doorway perfectly and can be easily taken down when not in use. Also, the height can be quickly changed depending on its current play purpose- low for belly crawling under, middle for puppet shows and walking through, etc. So far, Keely has used it as a shower curtain and pretended to bathe behind it, as a carwash- with her being the car, and as a wall so she could be a spooky ghost and walk through it. She thought it was great to run back and forth through too. She never has liked real doors being closed, so she is quite tickled with the bit of fun privacy that this "curtain" provides.
I like this playful, raggy, ratty-tatty look, but a regular curtain could serve a similar purpose or for a cleaner look you could sew loops at the top of all the strips and slide them on. Think of all the fabric combination possibilities. Keely picked out these fabrics herself.
Also, to go along with our homemade pizza from the other day, we made angel hair pasta.
That was a lot of hard work, ay? Just cut up some heavyweight string. I am going to make a mini-red rice/bean bag to use as a spoonful of tomato sauce to go on top! Brown pom-poms make good little meatballs for you carnivores out there.

(I'm sure you all know this, but just so I can feel better, please don't leave your very wee tots alone with long strips of fabric/ribbon-no, strangulation please.)
