If you haven’t been living in a cave where you hardly heard anything, then you will know that one of the hottest (and most annoying) trends right now that is sweeping the nation has to do with bed bugs infestation. Bed bugs are tiny blood-suckers that can infest your mattresses and reproduce in massive numbers in just 5 months. However, it can be such an annoying insect that it could totally take over your home.
The question is, how do you get rid of them. These days there are actually plenty of ways you can get rid of these pesky bugs (check out this article on how to get rid of bed bugs for good using bed bug spray!). In this article though, we’ll highlight some of our favorite ways to eliminate bed bugs for good so they are no longer a nuisance.
Apply Diatomaceous Earth
Applying a diatomaceous earth powder is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of a number of different pests, which include bugs. The actual method it employs in getting rid of the Bugs is by dehydrating them as it comes in contact with them properly. Applying 100% of this powder on different infested areas, afterwards you will get to see the bugs dead enough to vacuum them away (note that before you apply the powder, make sure you have washed all your linens in hot water).
After a few days, go through the process again just to ensure that the unhatched eggs get destroyed too. Continue this process for 2 weeks and you should be good to go.
After you have taken your time to wash all your linens, make sure you vacuum your chairs and other soft furnishings you have in the house. Bugs are tiny and can easily hide anywhere in almost every little space, from your upholstered furniture to your appliances. So you will need to vacuum every part of your apartment thoroughly at least once a week. You should not leave anything untouched.
Now this is one of the ways you can get bugs out of your apartment. There are some items that can not be washed at a high temperature. Turning to steam cleaning might be the next option that is available. Steam cleaning at a high heat will actually take off some stubborn bugs. Some bugs are easily killed at a temperature of just 140 degree Fahrenheit. You might not necessarily have to use the big steam cleaner, as there are some small hand steam cleaners that can be used anytime.
Use Baking Soda
When it come to drying bugs, baking soda is perfect for that, as the soda sucks up the moisture away from the bugs and eventually kills them. Spreading the soda at different corners of your apartment that has been infested with bug and allowing the soda to sit on this places for at least a week before sweeping off.
